You are all welcome to the official website of the Ministry of Labour. The purpose of the website is to dessiminate information about the ministry to the general public and other stakeholders. The Ministry of Labour is mandated to develop and protect the labour force in order to contribute to the socio-economic development in Malawi. This mandate is derived from the laws of Malawi, International Conventions and other legal instruments such as: Labour Relations Act (1996); Occupational Safety, Health and Welfare Act (1997); TEVET Act (1999); Employment Act (2000); Workers Compensation Act (2000); Pensions Act (2023) and International Standards on Labour. The ministry's mission is to develop and support harmonious relations and skilled human resources through enhancement of social justice, peace, decent work, technical and vocational training to ensure high quality, healthy and productive labour force. Core functions of the ministry include industrial relations, occupational health, safety and welfare technical and vocational training, employee services, workers compensation and trade testing.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has embarked on implementing Labour Market Information System (LMIS) for labour market policy formulation and production of labour market statistics.
